“Indiana’s creative economy is thriving, and our partnership with Heartland Film is the perfect opportunity to highlight our state’s contributions to this industry,” IEDC Chief Marketing Officer Salena Scardina said. “Our state’s creative innovators are not only contributing to the growth and success of Indiana’s economy, but they’re also advancing the vibrancy, identity and quality of place across Hoosier state-wide communities.”

According to a news release, Indy Shorts had a 30% increase in short film submissions from last year. Event officials said there were 5,130 shorts submitted for consideration to the 2024 festival, with just over 200 receiving an official selection.

"With an unprecedented number of short film submissions this year, our job to wade through and make final selections for the festival was not a simple task," artistic director Greg Sorvig said. "I'm confident attendees will be impressed with the variety, quality and creativity of the shorts on display in the 34 curated themed programs."
