BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — The Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 Saturday afternoon.
Deputies were called to the 69.5 mile marker on I-65 around 1:50 p.m. on a report of a fatal crash.
The investigation is ongoing, but investigators believe reckless driving may have played a factor based on the alleged driving behavior of the victim, later identified as Richard Campbell, 65, of Edinburgh. Campbell was pronounced dead at the scene.
“We have seen an increase in serious traffic accidents this summer,” Maj. Chris Lane said. “We again ask the community to please follow all traffic laws, which are designed to prevent these type of accidents.”
Columbus Regional Health EMS, Columbus Township Fire Department, Columbus Police Department and Indiana State Police assisted in the incident.
