INDIANAPOLIS — A former University of Nebraska guard, who generated a lot of buzz for the Cornhusker's basketball team last year, is coming to play in Indianapolis!
Keisei Tominaga went undrafted this summer after averaging just over 15 points and being named to the All-Big Ten second team in his final season at Nebraska, but the Pacers are now giving him a chance.
The team announced Thursday Tominaga will be under an Exhibit 10 contract, alongside forward Tyler Polley from the University of Connecticut.
What is an Exhibit 10 contract for the NBA?
Introduced in 2017, Exhibit 10 contracts for NBA players are a one-year agreement that is used to bring players in for summer training camps and the NBA Summer League. The purpose of it is to give teams a chance to evaluate players before offering them a two-way contract.
Players who spend at least 60 days with a G League affiliate team after being waived can receive up to a $75,000 bonus. For Tominaga, this would be with the Indiana Mad Ants.
Tominaga will have to play for the Indiana Mad Ants before he can play for the Pacers.
While Tominaga technically signed with the Pacers and will participate in the team's training camp next year, he'll have to play with the Mad Ants as a part of his contract.
The 23-year-old would've played for the team this season, but skipped the NBA Summer League to represent Japan in the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
