NAPA, Calif. (WTHR) — Reigning Indy 500 champ Simon Pagenaud is taking another victory lap.
Five months after winning "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," Pagenaud tied the knot with Hailey McDermott on Friday in Napa, California, according to PEOPLE.
IndyCar reports the couple met in 2013 when McDermott, a San Diego native, was in Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center for her father's surround-sound speaker business.
A friend of a friend introduced the two — much to McDermott's dismay, who told the IndyCar driver she'd had a long day and just wanted a quiet meal and a drink.
The two ended up talking for four hours that evening and went to dinner the following evening.
Two months later, she quit her job and moved to Indy to be with Pagenaud.
"I dreamt about winning Indy. I didn't know when it was going to happen or if it was going to happen — I certainly never imagined it would happen the same year I was getting married," Pagenaud told PEOPLE days before the wedding. "I've accomplished all my dreams."
Indianapolis native Amanda Crean photographed the couple's big day and shared a photo of the ceremony on Instagram.
