LEBANON, Ind. — It's a Sagamore Conference showdown on Week 6 of Operation Football! The Tri-West Bruins (2-3) head northeast to Boone County to take on the Lebanon Tigers (3-2) on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.

While both teams have proven so far this season to have explosive offenses, the rain will be the biggest storyline heading into Friday night's game. According to the 13News meteorologists, the strongest wind gusts will happen between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Boone County can expect wind gusts of up to 50 mph and up to one inch of rain, meaning the opening kickoff could go haywire if its caught by the right gust of wind.

Outside of the game's expected weather forecast, the biggest storyline coming into the game is the fact that this is likely the penultimate time these two teams will meet as conference opponents. Back in May, Tri-West announced its intention to leave the Sagamore Conference following the 2025-26 season and join the new "Hoosier Legends Conference" that will include Indian Creek, Beech Grove, Monrovia and Triton Central in fall 2026.

Lebanon will remain in the Sagamore Conference, which will welcome Lafayette-area schools Harrison and McCutcheon beginning next season.

Looking ahead to the game, the Bruins are hoping to bounce back from a heartbreaking overtime loss last week to conference rival Danville. The Tigers, however, are riding a wave of confidence after a 64-8 thumping of Frankfort.

When it comes to common opponents, both teams were able to easily handle the 0-5 Frankfort Hot Dogs, but the Tigers and Bruins have each lost to Danville during their respective games. Tri-West lost to conference leader Western Boone 21-17 two weeks ago on Sept. 13. Lebanon will finish the regular season against Western Boone on Oct. 18.

Offensively, Lebanon senior quarterback Jackson Folden has already accounted for 764 yards passing and 10 total passing touchdowns in four games played this season. According to MaxPreps, Folden has a quarterback rating of 135.9 and has only thrown one interception so far this year.

Meanwhile, Tri-West has a rifle under center. Sophomore quarterback Jackson Sorgi (the son of former Colts backup quarterback Jim Sorgi) has been sensational so far this season. Sorgi has completed over 50% of his passes and has thrown for nearly 800 yards in just five games with the Bruins. He's tossed nine touchdowns and only one interception, according to MaxPreps.

Sorgi is also good on his feet. He's got two rushing touchdowns and 178 rushing yards to go with his passing stats. In last week's overtime loss to Danville, Sorgi threw for over 300 yards and had two touchdowns. He also accounted for 41 of the team's 118 total rushing yards.

As long as rain doesn't impact Friday night's game, it should be a thriller. Make sure to tune into Operation Football during 13News at 11 p.m. and click here for more high school football content.
