Carmel girls swimming wins 38th consecutive IHSAA state title

The Greyhounds won eight out of 12 of the day's events.

INDIANAPOLIS — The complete domination of IHSAA girls swimming by the Carmel Greyhounds continued on Saturday. 

The Carmel High School girls swimming and diving team won their 38th consecutive state championship at the IUPUI Natatorium on Feb. 10. The Greyhounds finished with 433 points as a team, defeating runner-up Penn High School by 221 points.

Fishers High School finished third with 202 points. Zionsville finished with 170, and Fort Wayne Carroll rounded out the top-five, scoring 166 total points.

Carmel won the following events:

  • 200 Medley Relay (1:39.13)
    • Kayla Barr, Molly Sweeney, Alexandra Shackell, Grace Dougherty, Priscilla Smith, Lucy Enoch, Madelyn Lathrop, Lillian Clark.
  • 200 Yard Freestyle

  • 100 Yard Butterfly
    • Alexandra Schackell (50.25)
  • 500 Yard Freestyle
    • Lynsey Bowen (4:40.74)
  • 100 Yard Backstroke
    • Alexandra Shackell (51.63)
  • 100 Yard Breaststroke 
    • Molly Sweeney (59.47)
  • 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:18.66)
