SOUTH BEND, Ind. — If you asked Santa Claus for tickets to the Indiana-Notre Dame College Football Playoff matchup, you better hope he's feeling extra generous this year.
Tickets to the first round game set for Dec. 20 at Notre Dame Stadium are about three times more expensive than any other CFP matchup. The in-state rivals are both 11-1 and haven't played each other in over 30 years.
Face value tickets through Notre Dame sold out earlier this week. According to StubHub, the cheapest pair of tickets for sale Wednesday was $665 each. Tickets in the lower bowl were going for close to $3,000 before fees.
According to Seat Geek, the cheapest price for two tickets Wednesday was $800 each for seats in the 11th row of the end zone. Tickets in the lower bowl were selling for over $4,000 each before fees.
Get-in prices on Seat Geek for other first round games were much lower:
Penn State-SMU: $88.
Texas-Clemson: $194.
Ohio State-Tennessee: $198.
The Hoosiers had never won more than nine games in a season before 2024. The Hoosiers were 10-0 under first year head coach Curt Cignetti before losing their first game at Ohio State.
They capped off the season with a 66-0 blowout of rival Purdue to win the Old Oaken Bucket.
Notre Dame enters the CFP as No. 5 and No. 7 in Playoff bracket. Fighting Irish quarterback Riley Leonard threw for 2,092 yards and ran 721 this season, and running back Jeremiyah Love ran for 949 yards. Notre Dame's only loss was to Northern Illinois 16-14 in September.
Quarterback Kurtis Rourke has been rock solid for the Hoosiers, throwing for 2,827 yards, 27 touchdowns and just four interceptions. He completed 70.4% of his passes in the regular season -- the eighth-best mark in college football.
Indiana's defense is a big reason for the team's historic run. The Hoosiers are No. 2 in the country in total defense, allowing just 244.8 yards a game.
You can watch the Indiana-Notre Game on WHAS11 Friday, Dec. 20, at 8 p.m.
