Couple battling life-threatening illness donates wedding to charity

A special couple battling a life-threatening illness has decided to forgo traditional gifts at their wedding in order to help make a difference for others.

(WTHR) — Most couples look forward to all the gifts a wedding brings.

But for one couple it's about paying it forward.

A year and a half ago, Caleb Remington got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, Tiffany.

That's where their "traditional" route to the alter, ends.

Caleb has been battling cystic fibrosis all his life.

The now 27 year old wasn't expected to live past 19.

He doesn't know how much time he has left, so the couple decided to use their wedding as a fundraiser for charity.

They are calling it "the greatest wedding ever donated."

"We didn't want any presents or anything for us we wanted people to purchase tickets which would be a donation to the cause," Caleb said.

They started a page called G.W.E.D — greatest wedding ever donated — where people can read about them and learn about the different charities they're donating money to. People can also directly donate via their site.

"It's just been really awesome to see all the different individuals and companies that have reached out to us and ask how they can help," Tiffany commented.

Their goal is to raise 500-thousand dollars, which will be split among 5 charities, including the cystic fibrosis foundation.
