Two laid-off ITT Tech employees seek two months' wages in federal lawsuit

Two employees laid off by ITT Technical Institute are seeking 60 days' wages in a federal lawsuit.

CARMEL, Ind. (WTHR) - Two employees laid off by ITT Technical Institute are seeking 60 days' wages in a federal lawsuit.

The lawsuit against the for-profit college is being brought by Allen Federman, who worked as a business analyst, and Steve Ryan, who was an instructor for ITT Tech. They are seeking to recover two months' worth of wages and claim that ITT Tech violated federal law when it laid off employees without 60 days' notice.

The complaint was filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Delaware.

The lawsuit seeks class-action status on behalf of the 8,000 employees who lost their jobs as a result of ITT's decision to close over 130 ITT Technical Institute campuses in 38 states.

ITT announced Tuesday that it is shutting down all 130 of its U.S. campuses. The school cited recent sanctions by the U.S. Department of Education as the reason for the shutdown.
