Thousands of Colts fans welcome season with benefit run

The Colts are hoping to start a pre-season winning streak Saturday against Baltimore at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The team has been practicing this week, some of those indoors due to the rain.

Colts fans are wondering if Saturday night’s game against the Ravens could be Andrew Luck's premier this season.

He sat out the close game against Buffalo last weekend and the coaches aren't telling us why.

Before Saturday night’s game, nearly 5,000 fans got the chance to come inside Lucas Oil Stadium and run on the field, all for a good cause.

Every participant helped to raise money for the various programs at Riley Children's Hospital at IU Health.

“One of the biggest epidemics we've seen across the country is diabetes and type I diabetes especially in kids so I know that's a big focus that's being done at riley and they are one of only 12 national research centers across the country,” said Kate Burnett with the Riley Foundation.

That's just one of several services offered at the hospital; a place that's close to the Bultman family's heart.

At three years old, Eric and Kyra Bultman’s daughter is able to run around like others her age, but it hasn't always been this easy.

“She was born with hip dysplasia and she had a major surgery and was put under with anesthesia and a cast and is fine and healthy,” Kyra said.

That road to recovery was made possible by Riley.

“Last year she was cleared; she doesn't need to wear hip braces anymore,” Kyra said.

And it is thanks in part to fundraising events like the Colts 5K Run-Walk that helps change a life.
