UPLAND, Ind. (WTHR) - Taylor University announced an agreement to purchase the historic Upland United Methodist Church property at 123 E. Washington St.

The university will take control of the church once the congregation moves to the former Pierce factory on Upland’s northwest side, according to a news release from Taylor.

Taylor agrees to pay $1 for the 114-year-old church building and property.

The current Upland United Methodist Church building was built in 1903.

The school will renovate the building based on final purposes for the space and funding sources. Taylor is also seeking ideas from the Upland community, Taylor faculty, staff, and other stakeholders before making a final decision on what do to with the church.

If you have an idea for the building, email Ron Sutherland at Taylor or call (765) 998-5118.
