INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Concerns over coronavirus have postponed the Indianapolis Fight For Air Climb downtown Saturday.

The climb was scheduled to start at the Salesforce Tower at 7 a.m., but will be held once concerns about the virus subside.

Organizers say while public health officials have not recommended the cancellation of mass events, Salesforce, the event's host sponsor, decided to postpone the event "out of concern for the health of the employees and tenants of Salesforce Tower."

Tanya Husain, executive director of the Lung Association issued the following statement in a release about the postponement:

“We acknowledge the late nature of this announcement and apologize for the inconvenience that it causes for our valued event sponsors, participants and volunteers. The health and well-being of all concerned is our top priority.

Salesforce has assured us that they remain committed to the Fight For Air Climb, and we look forward to when we can bring our community together in support of the American Lung Association’s life-saving research, advocacy and education work.

Again, we are saddened by this turn of events and we know our supporters might have some questions. We are ready and prepared to answer them.”

According to online records, more than 1,000 people participated in the event last year. More information about the event is available at FightForAirClimb.org.
