INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — We can all remember what we wanted to be when we were a kid. Maybe a teacher, firefighter or an astronaut.
Connor Schuelke wants to be a pilot.
The 14-year-old is a Riley Champion who battled cancer in 2013 and 2014. He had a rare cancer that grows in and around the bones. Connor ended up having a hip replacement and follow up surgeries.
Today he is healthy and back pursuing his dream of flying and he got a taste of it Thursday in Indianapolis.
Republic Airways Leadership In Flight Training (LIFT) Academy took Connor on a tour of the facility. They then put him through a simulator and took him on a short flight around the city.
