Mayberry car struck again in Danville

The Mayberry Police cruiser took another hit Sunday morning in Danville - the second crash in less than two months.

DANVILLE, Ind. (WTHR) - The Mayberry Police cruiser took another hit Sunday morning in Danville - the second crash in less than two months.

Police say just before 7 a.m. a driver fell asleep and hit the vintage car, which was parked in its usual spot in front of the Mayberry Cafe at the intersection of Jefferson Street and U.S 36 on Danville's town square.

The collision took down a pedestrian cross walk sign, a one-way street sign, destroyed a large concrete flower pot, and caused heavy damage to the Mayberry police car.

The 20-year-old driver of the Honda CRV that hit the police cruiser woke up during the collision.

Neither drugs or alcohol are suspected in the crash.

On April 26, a suspected drunk driver rear-ended the Mayberry car and left the scene. Police found the driver and she is currently facing several charges.
