INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — On average, parents take about 5,000 pictures of their kids each year. But in the age of the smartphone, how do we organize them, and make those baby albums?
An Indianapolis mom has developed an app that's unlike anything currently out there, and it's growing in popularity.
Carrie Griffith was a new mom working at Microsoft when she was trying to find a way to send milestone updates about here daughter to family and friends.
"I would upload her monthly photo into PowerPoint; I would add on text and design and create my own sticker," Griffith said. "Then I would share it out to grandparents and on my social pages. The whole process was really a big pain, but my friends and family loved it. About six months into her life I realized there was probably an easier way to do it. That is when I had the inspiration to start Little Nugget."
It was a long process for Griffith, but two years in and the app is taking off.
"We've had 150,000 downloads, she said. "We have a really active user base and just hit a big milestone. We have one million moments saved in the App."
How "Little Nugget" creates baby milestones:
So what makes Little Nugget unique from other picture book companies out there right now?
Griffith said it's easy.
"Taking the photos is easy, the hard part is when you want to make a baby book, or share them out to social media."
Little Nugget helps parents take those moments that really matter and turn them into something meaningful.
It eliminates the need to search through thousands of pictures you've taken over a years time.
"The big challenge with parents trying to create these baby books is they sit down in one go and try and create them. You have so many photos to go through, it's just really overwhelming. So with little nugget, you save the moments as they happen."
You can also add on personal artwork, and save the pictures to individual baby albums for each of your children.
At the end of the year, you can go to that album and create a book from those photos you've been saving over the course of time.
You can also print them through the app, or share them right away.
"You can share them directly with grandparents or onto social media if you are a big Instagram person so you can do with them what you want, but they are all in the same place for you," Griffith said.
That also means freeing up space on your phone and cloud by deleting pictures as you go.
Right now, Little Nugget is only available on the Apple App Store, but they will be launching on Android soon.
