INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — There are a lot of GoFundMe pages out there for the Coleman family, so it's important to know who your money is going to when you donate.
The one that has nearly $700,000 will go to Tia Coleman. Coleman lost her husband and three children in the duck boat accident.
There are also electronic billboards around the city promoting a different GoFundMe page.
That money goes to the brother of Irvin Coleman, Gary, who died in the sinking.
And the third GoFundMe campaign you may have seen was just started.
It has more than $20,000 of its $250,000 goal, and this one goes to help the entire Coleman family.
Indianapolis radio host Jake Query created a GoFundMe page after the accident to help the families of the victims. He quickly raised $3,000, which he has since transfered to the family to help relatives pay to travel to the funeral services later this week.
"I thought, 'I can't imagine all of a sudden, in an instant, everyone I spent Christmas with is gone'," Query said. "Your heart breaks for them and you can't replace them. But if you can do what you can to just try to let them know that there's a community that wants to put their arms around them."
