SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - A western Indiana man was arrested on neglect and battery charges for abuse suffered by his three-month-old daughter.
Eric Tharp, 46 of Farmersburg, was arrested Friday in Sullivan County for domestic battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.
State police say they were contacted in early August by the Indiana Department of Child Services and Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health about multiple injuries to the infant girl. Detectives allege the girl sustained multiple fractures and other injuries while she was in the care of her father at their home in Sullivan County.
The baby girl has been released from the hospital after receiving treatment. She and two of her siblings have been placed in the care of other relatives. Police said the children's mother has cooperated with the investigation and do not believe she was involved in the injuries sustained by her daughter.
Tharp is being held at the Parke County Jail and is awaiting transfer to Sullivan County.
