LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WTHR) — The Lafayette Police Department has identified the two officers who were present during the shooting that injured officer Lane Butler.
Officer Kurt Sinks — an 11-year veteran — and officer Aaron Wright — a two-year veteran — were both at the scene during the incident. The investigation has revealed it was a round from Wright's weapon that struck his colleague.
As of Wednesday morning, Butler was still in serious condition, but she was stable.
Per protocol, Wright has been placed on administration leave until the department's internal investigation is complete.
Video of the incident is expected to be released Friday.
