HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) — The Howard County Sheriff's Department are giving away free drug de-activation kits to cut down on the number of prescription pain medication.
Our news gathering partners at the Kokomo Tribune say they will be giving out nearly 5,000 of them to the health department, schools and to anyone who stops by.
You can put up to 45 pills inside the bag and add warm water to dissolve the pill.
The kits are part of a grant from the prescription drug abuse leadership initiative.
Between 2006 to 2012, more than 40 million pills were prescribed in Howard County.
