FISHERS, Ind. (WTHR) — A family of five is safe after their Fishers home became engulfed in flames early Wednesday.
Firefighters responded to the scene just before 2:30 a.m. where they found a large house in the 12000 block of Shady Knoll Drive fully involved with flames threatening other nearby homes.
It took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the fire under control. There was minimal damage occurring to the homes next door.
Fire crews say the family managed to escape safely due to early warnings from working smoke alarms inside the home.
While an estimated cost of damages to the home hasn't been released, firefighters say the home is a complete loss.
Firefighters want to remind everyone to make sure you have an escape route with working smoke detectors. They say that helped tremendously for the family to get out without injury.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
