DELPHI, Ind. (WTHR) - Four months ago, searchers found the bodies of Abby Williams and Libby German in the woods outside of Delphi.

The ribbons, flowers and wanted posters displayed around the town have faded, but not the hope, the belief, the conviction that police will find the killer.

Posters with pictures of the best friends and the man investigators suspect killed them are almost everywhere you look in Delphi.

At the Garden Gate Cafe, there is a wanted poster on the front door and miniature ones on the table.

“Hope is still there. Our community has complete belief in our law enforcement they will find who did this," said owner Denise Strasser. She raised her children here and thinks of the unsolved crime every day.

“It still makes me sick to my stomach,” she said.

Abby Williams and Libby German were abducted in February while hiking a local trail and abandoned railroad bridge, a place so popular it is photographer Alan McConnell’s best selling photograph.

He removed it from the wall of his downtown studio but decided to put the photo back up

“Everyone, of course, wants it resolved," he said. "Will it ever?"

The girl’s bodies were found in a secluded wooded area. One of the victims took a photo of their suspected attacker.

“We are still trying to get that bit of information that will lead to the killer,” said state police Sgt. Kim Riley, a public information officer.

A reward of more than $235,000 hasn’t gotten the tip investigators need.

“In today’s world, somebody knows this person,” said Libby German’s grandfather Mike Patty. “It could be the possibility of someone being scared or in fear for their life. Somebody out there knows. Call it in.”

Police have already investigated an astounding 17,000 tips and more than 600 potential suspects. A task force of more than 100 police has been reduced to 11 investigators.

Riley insists it's not a cold case. Several new tips come in every day, and there is evidence to evaluate.

“The guys and gals working the case are confident we will solve it. They are working 120 percent,” he said.

Inside the taskforce headquarters, above a ticking clock, there is a sign of seemingly endless confidence. It says “Today Is The Day.”
