INDIANAPOLIS — The basketball court at Bicentennial Unity Plaza outside Gainbridge Fieldhouse is getting a makeover for the winter.
The Elevance Health Rink is set to open to the public Sunday, Nov. 19.
Visitors can sign up for 90-minute ice skating sessions, including skate rentals, for less than $20.
Just steps from the fieldhouse, Danny Lopez with Pacers Sports and Entertainment said this plaza continues to bring the community together.
"We have been talking for several years about how this is transformative for the downtown and how it connects all the pieces in the downtown. This is what we're talking about," Lopez said.
Now through Jan. 21, 2024, skating sign-ups will be available online.
"Get your spot," Lopez said. "It is going to fill up quick. I can tell you that."
Plus, Lopez said the rink at Bicentennial Unity Plaza is bigger than the rink at the Rockefeller Center in New York City.
"You can bring your family or come out for a date night," Lopez saod. "It is going to be a lot of fun."
