MONROE COUNTY, Ind. (WTHR) - Three people were thrown from a car in northern Monroe County early Saturday morning after the car crashed on I-69.
They were headed south when the driver hit a guardrail just north of the Sample Road exit around 12:45 a.m. and rolled back onto the road before coming to a stop in the middle of the interstate.
Eight total people were in the car. Three of the passengers were thrown out by the force of the crash. One of those had to be air-lifted to an Indianapolis hospital. The other two were taken to IU Health Bloomington by ambulance. The other five were all able to get out of the vehicle on their own and declined any medical attention.
I-69 was shut down for about an hour and a half while emergency crews worked the scene.
