BEECH GROVE, Ind. (WTHR) — The 14-foot python missing from Beech Grove was found Saturday morning.
The snake's owner confirms to WTHR she was found underneath his shed. He says the python had been shedding and he found the evidence, then followed that to find her.
Anyone can own a python in Indiana. Because they are not venomous, they are not regulated by the Department of Natural Resources. Owners are not required to have a DNR permit or inspections to ensure their cages are locked, safe, clean and humane.
The snake, named "Vine," became a hit with her own Twitter account, but her neighbors have not been as excited about the idea of her being on the loose.
There's also a petition circulating to change Beech Grove's high school mascot from the Hornets to the Pythons.
