LEBANON, Ind. (WTHR) - It could be called a high tech laundromat.
Specifically designed for M95 masks, this protective gear hangs on a clothes line and gets radiated with ultraviolet light.
It kills viruses like COVID-19, according to Witham Hospital's Dr. Thomas Cartwright.
"We rotate them over a cycle inside and out and they hang them so the inside is exposed to the light," Cartwright said. "We also have quality control coins that measure the right amount of exposure."
They can continually use them until the masks wear out.
"As long as the mask is not soiled or torn," said Cartwright. "Generally, I think you could get two to three times the amount of life out of one of these because trying to buy these right now and trying to replace them, they are tough. Everyone is on back order."
