INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — Prosecutors filed charges Wednesday in a quadruple murder on the northwest side nearly four years ago.
Nicholas Dunn was charged with four counts of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, Marion County Proecutor Terry Curry announced. Prosecutors say new evidence gave investigators evidence that allegedly connects Dunn to the murders of 41-year-old Terri Betties, her 18-year-old son Davon Whitlock, their cousin Tiara Turner and family friend Sherry Taylor in a home on North Harding Street on March 24, 2015.
Court records say Dunn held the three female victims at gunpoint inside the home, then allegedly used them to lure Whitlock, who was parked outside, into the home. Each of the four victims was then shot and killed, each by several gunshots.
Dunn allegedly fled the scene in Whitlock's vehicle, which was later found five blocks from Dunn's home.
Curry acknowledged the difficulty the victims' families had as time passed with no arrests in the case, noting it is equally frustrating for investigators.
"We have prosecuted cold cases that took decades to come to light. No murder victim is ever forgotten by their family and friends, or by us," he said.
IMPD Chief Bryan Roach said the community-based beat policing that his department resumed last spring helps to build relationships in the community that helps police get violent offenders off the street.
Dunn is currently in custody for an unrelated matter, prosecutors said, and will be served with the arrest warrant for the Harding Street case while he is custody.
