IMPD: Man arrested after far east side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — IMPD announced the arrest of a 34-year-old in the investigation into a shooting that injured another man on Indianapolis' far east side early Sunday.

Around 2 a.m. Feb. 4, officers responded to the area of Bankers Lane and East Washington Street, west of Emerson Avenue, for a report of a person shot. Officers located a man with a gunshot wound(s) who was described by police as "stable" when taken to a local hospital.

An IMPD spokesperson said the shooting is believe to have happened in the 3600 block of Wingate Court, near East 38th Street and North Mitthoefer Road.

Police identified the 34-year-old man as a suspect in the shooting. Monday morning, the man was arrested on preliminary charges of battery with a deadly weapon, invasion of privacy and obstruction of justice.

No additional information on the circumstances of the shooting has been shared by police.
