Fort Wayne man dies nearly 20 years after being shot, death ruled homicide

The Allen County Coroner's Office said it was notified Feb. 15 the man had died of sepsis because of complications from his gunshot wound.

FORT WAYNE, Ind — A Fort Wayne man's recent death has been ruled a homicide, nearly two decades after he was shot.

According to NBC affiliate WPTA, the Allen County Coroner's Office said 70-year-old Alfred Woods was shot July 30, 2004, on Warsaw Street in Fort Wayne, near East Rudisill Boulevard and Lafayette Street. 

The coroner's office said it was notified Feb. 15 that Woods had died of sepsis because of complications from his gunshot wound. His manner of death was ruled a homicide.

WPTA reports the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutor's Office and Allen County Coroner's Office are continuing to investigate the incident.
