60-year-old man arrested after Indianapolis shooting leaves 1 injured

INDIANAPOLIS — A 60-year-old man was arrested in connection to a shooting that happened early Saturday morning on Indianapolis' near northeast side.

An IMPD spokesperson said officers were called to a report of a person shot just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23 in the 3300 block of North Arsenal Avenue, near East 33rd Street and Dr. Andrew J Brown Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a victim with apparent gunshot wounds.

The person was said to be "awake and breathing" at the scene.

After gathering evidence, canvassing the area and witness interviews with the help of the IMPD special weapons and tactics team (SWAT), IMPD aggravated assault detectives were able to arrest a 60-year-old man for his alleged involvement.

(NOTE: 13News does not name suspects in cases until formal charges are filed by prosecutors). 

Police said the man was charged with aggravated battery and possession of a gun by a serious or violent felon. 

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) will make the final charging decision.
