INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - I know people are passionate about pizza. I am passionate about pizza! I love it. I love everything about it.
If you watch Sunrise on a regular basis (and if you don't, why? Call me. We can talk about it.)
A few weeks ago you saw me talking, and eating my favorite, the BBQ and pepperoni pizza from Pizza King. I even brought one in for my co-workers to try. They loved it and are still talk about how great the pie is.
I bring all this up, because I have found another pretty darn good pizza joint during my
What's Cooking travels around Central Indiana.
WB Pizza is located at 62nd and Allisonville road. The owner, Will Barnes has been making pizza's since high school, so it's fair to say he knows what he's doing.
He opened WB In Indianapolis in 1999. He grew up on the Southside of Chicago, so yea, he's a pizza guy. But he doesn't just make Chicago deep dish. In fact, he says Indy is more of a thin crust kind of town. That's why they offer a variety of homemade crusts. Yes, all the dough is homemade, making it that much better.
"We have 39 different toppings and 5 different crust styles and like 7 sauces. So our menu is not set in stone. It's more of a suggestion to give people the option, and ideas, to change things up and do things differently" says Barnes. The WB also makes all of the sauces in store, even desserts.
"Everything that we do here, we try and do with our own special flare, that the only place you can get it is to come here to get it. We are not opening a bag of bread sticks that were made in Kentucky and sent up here. We actually hand cut our own bread sticks every single day, bake them off they are different than you would get anyplace else" says Barnes.
On my visit, Barnes made his popular Di Napoli pizza. "It's just very simple, tomato cheese, and olive oil."
Barnes also made his Greek pizza for me to try and his famous sausage rolls. It was all so good!
They also have a wide variety of pasta's, sandwiches and salads.
