CARMEL, Ind. — Carmel police are investigating after a man was found dead in a pond near a nursing home Tuesday morning.
Police confirmed a body was removed from the pond behind the Majestic Care of Carmel, located at 12999 N. Pennsylvania St., around 9 a.m.
Police said foul play is not suspected.
The person has been identified, but police are waiting to release his name until family is notified. Tuesday evening, Majestic Care of Carmel confirmed the man was a resident of their facility but did not identify him.
"Our hearts are broken over the news received this morning. Each resident that chooses to call us home is valued and loved. The events that happened early this morning at our Majestic Care of Carmel Assisted Living location are devastating. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to the resident’s family and loved ones," the company said in a statement.
Majestic Care said they are working with law enforcement officials during their investigation of the man's death. The facility is also offering counseling to residents, staff and their loved ones.
